Martin N. Fienkeng

Martin N. Fienkeng serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer (CIO), and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Laureate Education, Inc. In this role, he provides strategic leadership for Laureate’s global IT operations, enterprise security, and digital infrastructure. He oversees IT governance, regulatory compliance, cybersecurity strategy, and enterprise-wide technology operations, supporting over 470,000 students and more than 30,000 employees across Mexico and Peru.

Since joining Laureate in 2015, Martin has played a pivotal role in strengthening the company’s IT operations and security infrastructure. As Vice President of Global IT Operations and Executive Director of IT Information Security, he led enterprise-wide cloud migration efforts, strengthened cybersecurity resilience, and implemented an advanced risk management framework that improved regulatory compliance and operational security. His strategic direction has resulted in enhanced IT service management, improved system efficiency, and better protection against evolving cyber threats.

Prior to Laureate, Martin held executive leadership roles in IT and cybersecurity at McCormick & Company and Ciena Corporation, overseeing enterprise security, IT infrastructure, and business continuity for multinational organizations spanning more than a dozen countries. With over 25 years of experience, he has successfully led initiatives in risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and enterprise technology management while navigating complex IT environments.

Martin holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Liverpool University (UK), as well as an Executive MBA from Loyola College of Maryland. He is a Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO).
