In a significant step toward environmental leadership, Laureate Mexico has earned CREA certifications for 11 campuses and its corporate headquarters in Mexico City. The achievement reflects a strong commitment to sustainability and ongoing efforts to reduce environmental impact.

Commitment to Sustainability

Awarded by Earthgonomic Mexico, CREA certification is a rigorous environmental accreditation that evaluates over 250 sustainability criteria, including waste management, energy efficiency, water conservation, and community engagement. Certifications of the 11 campuses and corporate office builds upon previous efforts, extending sustainability practices across both Universidad del Valle de México (UVM) and Universidad Tecnológica de México (UNITEC).

UVM has made progress in environmental responsibility, with six campuses and the corporate office now CREA certified. Key achievements include:

• Waste Management: Advanced recycling programs diverting over 90,000 kg of waste annually from landfill.
• Community Engagement: Expanding sustainability outreach, engaging more than 2,500 participants in 2024.
• Renewable Energy: Adoption of solar panels and other energy solutions, cutting carbon emissions by 15%.

UNITEC’s five CREA-certified campuses have implemented impactful environmental initiatives, including:

• Waste Management: Comprehensive recycling programs reducing landfill waste.
• Energy Efficiency: Installation of 1,200+ LED lighting systems, lowering energy use by 30%.
• Water Conservation: Water-saving devices achieving a 20% reduction in water consumption.
